Barry Lewis hated cooking, so he started a YouTube cooking channel back in 2011 and called it My Virgin Kitchen. The channel is now called Barry Lewis.

So how did Barry Lewis turn something he hated into something he now loves (well, likes anyway)? By making it fun!

Now thousands of people all over the world are joining in the fun and, inspired by Barry, having a go at cooking themselves.

Barry Lewis posts easy to follow recipes for home-style food that anyone can try. This self-taught cook will have you laughing and learning and hopefully cooking in no time.

Migrationology is a fascinating channel hosted by Mark Weins.

The channel combines Marks two great passions, food and travel. Based in Bangkok, he frequently travels with his wife making videos and writing for his blog about amazing food and travel tips.

His travel guides are hugely popular and well done. They include tips on where to stay, where to eat and how to get around all the cities that he has personally visited, invaluable advice from someone who has been there.

His enthusiasm for the people he meets and the food he eats comes through in his videos. Mark makes genuine connections with the local communities in the countries that he visits and gives us a glimpse of how different cultures live and eat.

Home Cooking Adventure is a beautiful channel hosted by Ella.

Ella started her blog in 2011 and has been working hard with the help of her husband behind the camera ever since. The first YouTube video was posted two years later in 2013.

As well as finding cooking very calming and an escape from a hectic world and busy life with three children, Ella believes that home cooking is more nourishing, fresher and tastier than fast food.

Baking is her favourite type of cooking, and her channel is a testament to this. The cakes and sweets on Home Cooking Adventure are gorgeous.

Ella and her husband are passionate about sharing their love of good food. The videos are very well made and the addition of excellent music to accompany the beautiful images makes watching very relaxing and enjoyable.

The Wyse Guide is the creation of Kaleb Wyse, a dynamic presenter producing videos from his farm in Iowa, USA.

Kaleb makes videos about cooking, gardening and home decorating. The videos follow the beauty of the seasons and holidays and instil a real sense of home.

He credits his mom and grandma for igniting his passion for cooking and gardening and his love of the holidays. Some of the recipes are from his grandma, tried and tested over many years.

Emmymade in Japan is a colourful, fun channel packed with intriguing recipes and foodstuffs. Ever wondered how to make a Raindrop Cake? You can find out on Emmymade in Japan!

A lot of the treats and DIY kits that Emmy tries in her series “Whatcha Eating?” are sent in from viewers from all over the world. It’s fascinating to see what’s out there! Of course, it’s not always great! See “Hamburger in a Can.”. It looks as though it tastes as bad as it sounds!

Another great series is “You Made What?”. In this series, Emmy makes some unusual and interesting recipes such as “JIGGLY Japanese Cotton CHEESECAKE” and “PIZZA BALLOON RECIPE.”

There are also some more traditional recipes on the channel including Emmy’s favourite kimchi and 30-minute pho-ga.

Cooking with Dog is a unique Japanese cooking channel hosted by Francis, the dog!

Next to the host is a very accomplished human chef who demonstrates the Japanese recipes. We don’t know the chef’s name, but along with Francis, they make an excellent team.

The recipes are explained in a voiceover in English and are very easy to follow, suited to the home cook.

Sadly Francis passed away in November 2016. Cooking with Dog started in 2007, so Francis had a long career as a host, and he is missed greatly by all.

The show continues with new videos posted each week. Hopefully one day a new dog will take up the challenge of the host.
