Barry Lewis hated cooking, so he started a YouTube cooking channel back in 2011 and called it My Virgin Kitchen. The channel is now called Barry Lewis.

So how did Barry Lewis turn something he hated into something he now loves (well, likes anyway)? By making it fun!

Now thousands of people all over the world are joining in the fun and, inspired by Barry, having a go at cooking themselves.

Barry Lewis posts easy to follow recipes for home-style food that anyone can try. This self-taught cook will have you laughing and learning and hopefully cooking in no time.

You will also find some crazy giant food videos, mini food videos, taste tests and kitchen gadget tests on the channel.

Emmymade in Japan is a colourful, fun channel packed with intriguing recipes and foodstuffs. Ever wondered how to make a Raindrop Cake? You can find out on Emmymade in Japan!

A lot of the treats and DIY kits that Emmy tries in her series “Whatcha Eating?” are sent in from viewers from all over the world. It’s fascinating to see what’s out there! Of course, it’s not always great! See “Hamburger in a Can.”. It looks as though it tastes as bad as it sounds!

Another great series is “You Made What?”. In this series, Emmy makes some unusual and interesting recipes such as “JIGGLY Japanese Cotton CHEESECAKE” and “PIZZA BALLOON RECIPE.”

There are also some more traditional recipes on the channel including Emmy’s favourite kimchi and 30-minute pho-ga.

The Easy Vegan is light-hearted channel full of humour and fun.

As well as being hugely entertaining, host Jules also has a serious reason for making his videos.

After learning about the animal farming industry and how it can affect the environment and health Jules decided to eat a vegan diet.

Changing the way you eat can be daunting, and Jules was worried he would have to eat “mung beans and quinoa”! After experimenting in the kitchen he realised that vegan food was delicious and satisfying and surprisingly easy to make.

This exciting discovery inspired Jules to start The Easy Vegan where he makes everyday meals with simple ingredients. And he is hilarious.

You Suck at Cooking is a humorous channel dedicated to having as much fun with food and the YouTube cooking video convention as possible.

Hugely creative and absurdly funny, the videos make for some addictive entertainment. Needless to say the focus of the videos may not be the recipes and the outcome of the cooking not always pleasing to the eye or the palette. However each video is extremely clever and silly at the same time. The host is anonymous and mysterious which adds to the fun.

Alex French Guy Cooking is a high energy channel hosted by the very dynamic Alex who is the French guy cooking. Alex is a self-taught cook with an enthusiasm for adventure in the kitchen, he’s made a dry-aged-beef machine and tattooed his chef knife!

Kawaii Sweet World is an adorable channel hosted by energetic Rachel Fong. Kawaii means cute in Japanese and you are guaranteed that everything Rachel makes is super cute and delicious.

As well as making her YouTube channel Rachel is studying hard at Stanford, smart and creative. Also on the channel are some Kawaii craft how to videos which are a lot of fun. Rachel started the channel way back in 2010 and all her hard work has paid off.

Nerdy Nummies is a fun show about baking anything with the theme “geeky”. Host Rosanna Pansino is an amazing talent; her videos are excellent quality and always entertaining. Kids will love this show (mine do) as will anyone who has a passion for anything geeky. Awesome, well-tested recipes make sure that your baking adventure will be a success.

The first Nerdy Nummies cookbook was released in 2015 and quickly became a New York Times bestseller. The very cool baking line came out in 2017. All the fun takes place in Rosanna’s home kitchen in Los Angeles where you might catch a glimpse of her utterly adorable French bulldog, Cookie.

At the time of writing Nerdy Nummies has 9.4 million subscribers, wow!

Binging with Babish is a cooking channel dedicated to recreating sometimes delicious and sometimes not so delicious but always interesting dishes from everyone’s favourite movies and tv shows.

Presenter, Andrew Rea is a self taught cook and filmmaker with a passion for expressing his love for both food and film in the kitchen. Some examples of his screen inspired creations include the Michael Scott Pretzel from The Office and Room Service from Mad Men. Outside of all this fun Andrew has made an excellent six episode educational series, Basics with Babish. In this series Andrew covers kitchen tools, steak, pasta, sauces and more.

Recently Andrew has added a new show to his channel, Bedtime with Babish. Each week Andrew will read to you, prose and poetry to help you drift off to sleep, what a great service. Check out his channel, it’s very entertaining.
