In the words of the wonderful Maangchi herself, “My channel is all about cooking, eating, and enjoying Korean cuisine with your family and friends.”.

Maangchi was born and raised in Korea where her family was in the seafood business. She loved food and cooking as a little girl and learnt from her mother, aunts and grandmothers how to not only cook but also pickle, smoke, dry and ferment!

Maangchi came to the US in 1992 and now lives in New York City. She posted her first cooking video in April 2007 with the support and encouragement of her two grown children. And she has never looked back.

Although she is always interested in learning new things, Maangchi sticks to authentic Korean recipes. Her goal is to share her knowledge of wholesome Korean food and encourage others to share in the joy of eating together.
